Are you an experienced environmental lawyer driven by working with complex and challenging legal issues in the environmental field while wanting to contribute to sustainable development in Norrbotten? Then you have found the right place!
About the job
As an employee at the County Administrative Board's legal unit, you will gain broad insight into many of society's various legal areas.
In the area of permits and supervision, it involves monitoring companies, guardians, foundations, and burial issues. The unit also works with various types of appeals, primarily appeals against municipal decisions according to the Planning and Building Act and the Environmental Code. We also provide advice and support on legal issues to the authority's other operations.
In your work, you will primarily handle cases and provide legal advice to competent expert colleagues who work with the assessment and supervision of environmentally hazardous activities. Together, you will also prepare cases and represent the County Administrative Board in court hearings, for example, in the Land and Environmental Court. In addition, other advisory work in the environmental legal field may also be relevant.
You will also handle questions and provide legal advice on administrative law issues and issues related to transparency and confidentiality. As time allows, you will also process and decide on some of the other cases that the legal unit works with, such as appeals against municipal decisions within the Environmental Code and the Planning and Building Act. The work also includes issues related to mineral legislation, such as opinions regarding mining concessions.
The work is constantly evolving, and based on our mission, the tasks may change over time.
About you
We are looking for someone who has:
- A law degree, LL.B or a master's in legal science.

As a person, you find it easy to collaborate and build good relationships. You are confident in your expertise and have the ability to provide legal advice in complex cases that are central to the development of our region and may have significant media focus. Furthermore, you can independently plan and prioritize your tasks. You see the big picture in legal issues and have the ability to work cross-sectorally with colleagues who have different areas of expertise than your own.
We consider it an advantage if you have:
- Experience in public authority exercise.
- Experience in court processes, especially from land and environmental courts or general administrative courts.
- Court experience, for example, through court clerkship or as a legal advisor.
For us, personal qualities are important, and we see it as a given that you contribute positively to our work environment and work joy, as well as act according to the state's value base.
